Rob Smith
Rob Smith

Rob is proof of the adage that one gets better with age and experience. In his 12th season, and at the age of 34, he had his best season ever in 1992. Playing for the Ottawa Rough Riders, Smith made the CFL all-star team for the first time and was named the league’s most outstanding offensive lineman. He was traded to B.C. in the off-season in an eight-player deal that sent five players to Ottawa and two others - Less Browne and Patrick Wayne - to B.C. Rob began his career with the Lions in 1981 and also played for the Lions in 1988 and ‘89. In between, he played for Toronto, Montreal and Calgary. Iron man Smith did not miss a game in nine seasons.
