Roger played college football with Doug Flutie at Boston College from 1979-1983. He was then drafted by the Ottawa Roughriders in 1983. Three games into the 1983 season Roger was awarded a starting position at offensive tackle and proceeded to start every game until his retirement in 1988. Roger was selected as an Eastern All-Star in 1985.
