Larry Cates
Larry was originally drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 1973. He started his CFL career with Calgary in 1974 and quickly made an impact becoming an All-star defensive back in 1975. Larry is also remembered as the CFL’s last true two-way player, playing both running back and defensive back during the 1976 season with the Stampeders. In 1977 Larry was traded to Ottawa and then finished his career in 1980 after amassing over 4500 all-purpose yards.
