After Nick graduated from Bishop’s University he played tight end for the Montreal Alouettes from 1979 to 1986. Nick then moved to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1986 when Montreal folded. He led the Alouettes in receiving for four straight years from 1982 to 1985. Nick was awarded the Schenly Outstanding Canadian trophy in 1984 and was Eastern All-star three times.
